Jesus said we are sheep before wolves–vulnerable victors. We won’t win by dominating. Or protecting self-interest. In the domain of The King, we win when we lose. In Matthew 10:39 Jesus said, “Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.”

Our Lord turned the nursery rhyme upside-down:

Not: Finders Keepers Losers Weepers

But: Finders Weepers Losers Keepers

My current ministry involves helping men, women teens, and children break free of spiritual strongholds. I’ve seen hundreds liberated, and many healed. I celebrated as they left impowered by God’s Spirit.

Then disappointment hits and lying thoughts and bad habits return. The shadow of death darkens their eyes, driving out light and truth. Because they’ve lived in darkness before they feel safe there.

And then the darkness deepens, and a stronghold emerges, stronger than before. Confusion swirls and they wonder what happened.

I’ve seen this occur too often. God suddenly liberates and sometimes heals. But living free requires viewing life through the eye of the resurrection paradigm. Seeing disappointment that way dispels enemy attacks by exposing enemy lies.

Unleash Resurrection Power

Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life” (John 11:25).

Jesus did not say, “I was the resurrection and the life.”

Jesus did not say, “I will be the resurrection and the life.”

Jesus said, “I AM the resurrection and the life.”

He then said, “. . . everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die” (Jn. 11:26).

He could not have meant physical death because everyone who heard him speak those words, died. He meant those who believe in him possess his resurrection life NOW. Death, in all its disguises, holds no power over them.

Do you believe Jesus? If so, read this aloud:

“I have resurrection life, now! Death’s power is broken.”

Read it again and again.

Say it when you wake in the morning

Say it as you fall asleep at night

Say it throughout the day.

Why? Because Jesus promised: “Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built” (Luke 6:47-48).

Jesus promised if you build your life on His words, you will withstand the strongest storm. When your heart and mind are grounded on the rock of the Lord’s life and teaching, a hurricane of disappointment cannot dislodge you. You will not be shaken. You will stand strong.

Living the Resurrection Paradigm involves training your mind to believe what God’s word says about who you are and what you have in Jesus Christ. And if you know him, Jesus says you possess his resurrection life now. That reality, not personal dominance or self-protection, overpowers the enemy of your soul.
