You May Not Know This About Jesus–He Didn’t Heal Everyone
“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” —1 John 5:14
The Gospels say Jesus healed “all who came to Him” (Matthew 8:16). Yet at Nazareth, He healed only a few (Mark 6:5). At Bethesda, He chose one man among many (John 5:3–9). Paul pleaded three times for healing and was told no (2 Corinthians 12:8–9). Jesus Himself asked for the cup to pass—and still went to the cross (Luke 22:42).
These aren’t contradictions. They’re revelations.
They show us that:
- Healing is not the highest good—God’s glory is. Jesus didn’t heal to impress. He healed to reveal. And sometimes, withholding healing reveals more.
- Faith isn’t a bargaining chip—it’s a posture of trust. Jesus never healed in response to performance or technique.
- He responded to surrender, desperation, and belief.
- Prayer isn’t a formula—it’s an invitation to wrestle. Hezekiah was told he would die. He wept. He prayed. God added fifteen years (Isaiah 38:5).
- Jesus doesn’t just remove suffering—He redeems it. Paul’s thorn remained, not because God failed, but because grace shined brighter through weakness.
So when healing doesn’t come, it’s not a failure of faith or a flaw in God. It’s a revelation: that God is doing something deeper, wiser, and more eternal than we can see.
Every healing Jesus performed was at the Father’s direction, in the Spirit’s power, for the sake of revealing who He is. And every “no” was just as purposeful.
You may not know this about Jesus… He didn’t heal everyone. But He never ignored anyone. And for those still waiting, He offers something greater than resolution—He offers Himself.

All of these fall under the title: You Don’t Know This About Jesus. With each post, like this blog, I’ll be sharing an insight that may be something you don’t already know about Jesus. I’m on a two year writing project to create 365 of these posts–one for every day of the year. I’m having fun writing these posts and hope they deepen your understanding of Jesus.
