Forty-seven months ago I had an insight that changed my life. I realized that while I had written three books based on the ministry model of Jesus, read numerous books on his life, contributed notes on the Gospels to three study Bibles, taken seminary classes on the Life of Christ and the Parables, written and delivered many messages on the teachings and ministry of Jesus—I had only read through the Gospels from beginning to end five times.
That insight triggered a second realization. Namely, if I wanted to know Jesus, I would need to focus my attention on the four Gospels. Everything we know about Jesus finds its meaning in the Gospels. Without the Gospels the Old Testament Messianic prophecies would have no meaning. Without the Gospels the Pauline and other New Testament epistles wouldn’t exist. His is the greatest story of human history and yet, I had only read it five times in the course of my life.
If you’re looking for a daily reading for your devotional time for 2016, I invite you to join me and read through The Jesus Story. This masterpiece of a blended Gospel removes all repetition while blending together the story from the four authors. If you read ten pages a day you’ll complete the story in a month. If you read five pages a day it will take you two months.
In order to make it easier for you, I’m going to discount the book for three days: December 31, January 1 and January 2. The Jesus Story normally sells for $35 plus shipping. For those three days only you can pick up as many copies as you want for $29.99 plus shipping.
If you decide to join me in reading The Jesus Story in 2016, I’d like to invite you to join The Jesus Story Facebook group. Several hundred of us are posting insights and questions as we read through the Lord’s story. It’s fun and I’m amazed that almost every day, as I read The Jesus Story, I see something I’ve never noticed before.
You can buy the book HERE and join the Facebook Group HERE.
I look forward to the New Year and hope in one year, we both know Jesus better.
