Many people have gotten the idea that getting to God demands jumping through religious hoops. Such misconceptions are laid to rest in a manger, in a stable, in Bethlehem some 2,000 years ago. Author Philip Yancey once asked, who could be more approachable than an infant? Who could be less threatening than a swaddled child with his hands secured at his side? Who invites affection and love more than a newborn baby?

You see, don’t you? God entered our world as a baby, in part, to show us he’s approachable.

This Christmas consider the infant in the manger. As you draw near to him, you draw near to God. He is approachable.

I hope you have a blessed Christmas.
